The Verbrilli Sound
The Verbrilli Sound's first album "Many Coloured Butterflies" mixed Don Verbrilli's guitar playing with a newly discovered love for drum machines, analog synths, and sampling. There is in fact a preceding album called "Islands" that has been released and sheds a little more light on what Don Verbrilli was doing before 1999 as he learned how to use his newly acquired electronic instruments. After appearing on Upstairs Recordings' "Deepdown Tempos 1 and 2" compilations, The Verbrilli Sound released three more full length albums- "Leisure War", "Caliph", and "Anunnaki" plus a collaborative album "Lifesavers" with E.D.Swankz. The Verbrilli Sound is embarking on a very busy release schedule with "The Devil and the Dragonfly", "Astrakhan" and "The Swankz Sessions" all being released in the past six months. More albums will follow in 2020, so keep checking in here or on music streaming services.
Telefuzz
Telefuzz became active with contributions to Upstairs Recordings' compilations "Deepdown Tempos Vol. 1", "Headlands: Deepdown Tempos Vol. 2", "Blue Light One", and "Upstairs Recordings Remixed". Telefuzz has released the full-length albums "Sleep", "The Financiers of Samsara", "The Ovaltine Prophecies", and most recently 2018's "Chimps in Space". Telefuzz will now handle a great deal of Don Verbrilli's electronic output, including his frequent collaborations with Paul McNeill (New Channel) and Mark Hjorthoy, (A Laughing Circuit, Softclip, and Good Natured Threat). The new album "Silent Rooms" is out now.
Gisun
Toronto-based artist Gisun brings organic, natural, and spirited sounds emerge from singer-songwriter, jazzy and folk styles - using acoustic elements and original instrumentation. Unique lyrics and melodies will transport you to a whimsical world where all worries are left behind. We're happy she gave one album , "Partes" to Verbrilli Recordings.
Portable Planets
Portable Planets is the result of a long term collaboration with Paul McNeill of New Channel. Paul and I have been working on songs for many years, and our playing often appears on each other's albums. In fact we both started our musical careers together in a band called Pull during the first half of the the 90's. Portable Planets has released two EPs, "Popskull" and "Mirrorworld" plus the full length album "Milkomeda".
Blinking Things
Mark Hjorthoy played me some songs he'd been working on with Dan Handrabur, a pioneer of electronic music in Vancouver. I liked the songs and thought i might be able to add some stuff. So i joined the band! We're working on a bunch of songs, and we're looking forward to releasing some of them just as soon as they pop out of the oven!
Pull
Pull was formed in the early nineties, within a musical nebula facilitating the birth of shoegaze, house, and ambient music.. Pull featured E.D. Swankz on drums, Gavin Froome on guitar, Paul McNeill on bass, and Don Verbrilli on vocals and guitar. From these varied influences, Pull released two EPs and a full album, "Ascender". Pull played live, went on tour, and began to learn to write better songs... then the band took 20 years off. Time to play other music, to get jobs, raise kids, and find a way in the world. Now we're back together... playing... looking for a new name. We have some songs... we have some ideas. I'll keep you posted!
